Stressed, try mindfulness?

Famous anthropologist and author, Carlos Castaneda once said, “We either make ourselves miserable, or we make ourselves strong. The amount of work is the same.”

I believe we should choose happiness, whether it be in the small things that we do everyday to help others or in big milestones throughout our lives that make us feel happy.

By choosing happiness through simple habits everyday it can provide us with instant benefits, so here are three tips to get you started!

1 – Have a look at mindfulness books or courses: Are you a stressed person, or someone who simply finds it hard to switch off at night? Mindfulness is an ancient Buddhist practise which helps  to increase our awareness and clarity in the present moment. Mindfulness allows you to see the present moment clearly, so that we can positively change the way we see ourselves and others.

2 – Explore the world we live in!: We spend most of our daily lives going through the same daily schedule, without really thinking about the world around us when there is an abundance of things we have yet to discover. Take a trip to somewhere you have always wanted to visit? Or simply go outside to experience what nature has to offer us, instead of sitting inside all of the time in front of the TV or computer.

3 -Take a day to be offline: Sometimes we can get overwhelmed by the media and worries that go on around us, yet still expect to have joy in your life. Instead why not try to plan a day out with a friend you haven’t seen in a while or read a book that has been sat around unopened.

But most of all believe in yourself, and be the best you that you can be. As what actions we choose to make, makes us the person that we become.
